How You Know It's Right

April 2025

In my line of work as a life coach and mentor, I'm often asked the question: How do you know when it's the right decision? And the answer is insanely simple: You'll feel it in your soul, in your very being. You can't hide or contain energy that aligns with who you are.
Does that feel strange or unfamiliar? If so, I'm going to ask you to take a minute to connect with your body, so you're going to need a quiet space where you can be alone for a few minutes.
I want you to start with closing your eyes and taking deep slow, steady breaths. In and out. I want you to clear your mind of all thoughts and just focus on your breath. Then I want you to slowly become aware of your body, starting with your toes and working your way up and out to your fingertips, and then finally to the top of your head. Be aware of any breeze on your limbs and if you're hot, cold or just comfortable. If you're outside or have the sun streaming in, be aware of it's warmth and the areas that it's touching you. Then I want you to focus on how you're feeling in the moment. Are you happy? Sad? Indifferent? Then I want you to think of something that you really enjoy doing, and let that feeling wash over you. Sit in that excitement for a moment and then when you're ready, open your eyes.
That feeling of happiness is what you're constantly looking for. Your body, your emotions, your energy, will tell you if you've made or are making, the right decision. And your happiness will have an impact on your mood and how you approach or do things.
As an example, I've noticed that I've been listening to different styles of music depending on the people that I'm surrounding myself with. It's like a way that I seem to tune into their mood, or their vibe if you will. I'm not saying that any of it is bad - it's all just frequency. But I'm the most happiest when I'm listening to music that I can get up and move to, and only a few people in my life make me feel that way.
Oddly enough, they're the same people that make me genuinely smile because with them, there are no walls, no masks, no false pretenses - just everyone being themselves without judgement, and being loved and accepted for who you are today. And it seems to be a beautiful and rare thing these days.
But I think that there should be more of it. There should be less bullshit. More genuity. More authenticity.
I mean, we're in a society where we're expected to accept everything else, so why not operate from a place of realness? Why not start acting on and doing things that are right for us?
And this extends past people. The same goes for what you spend your time doing. Life is short. Fill it with what you love. Find ways to incorporate what you enjoy into your everyday life, so you're not counting down the days or hours until the weekend. Do it now. Do it everyday or as often as you possibly can.
Because honestly, if the shoe doesn't fit, as pretty as it is, it's probably not for you. Go find the right one and enjoy the journey whilst you're searching. Your whole world will feel better.
